Redskins welcome back returning veteran Hightower

by Mark Pierce

A source with knowledge of the situation has said that 2011 season standout running back Tim Hightower has agreed to a one year deal with Washington.

Hightower tweeted the news of his return with the message “I’m back”, along with a photo of himself wearing a Redskins cap.

Hightower had 84 carries for 321 yards and a touchdown in five games with the Redskins in 2011 before suffering a torn anterior cruciate ligament, requiring surgery and eliminating him from the lineup for the remainder of the season.

The Redskins acquired Hightower after the 2010 season, shipping defensive lineman Vonnie Holliday and a draft pick to the Cardinals in exchange for the running back.

Although it is extremely early to make any sort of prediction concerning the final Redskins lineup at running back, it is safe to say that the top three spots on the depth chart are currently occupied by Hightower, Helu and Royster.

About ImproperRedskin

I grew up watching the Redskins with my dad. I feel I've always been a part of Redskins Nation. I'm so excited about the direction the team is taking now. I feel somewhat exiled in terms of the skins living in Boston, even though I know there are other fans here. That's pretty much why I started doing this, to touch base with other Redskins fans across the country. There's always something to talk about with the Redskins, isn't there? I want to hear your voice.
